Patrick Muldoon, star of “Days of Our Lives” and “Melrose Place,” dies at 57

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Patrick Muldoon, known for his roles in the television series Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, passed away on Sunday. His manager confirmed the news. He was 57 at the time of his death.

Muldoon was the first actor to portray Austin Reed on the long-running daytime series Days of Our Lives, a role he played from 1992 to 1995. He later returned to the series and reprised the same role between 2011 and 2012.

In 1991, he also had a recurring role as Jeffrey Hunter in the teen series Saved by the Bell. He went on to appear in Melrose Place from 1995 to 1996, where he played the antagonist Richard Hart.

In 1997, he portrayed Zander Barkalow in Paul Verhoeven’s film Starship Troopers.

Beyond acting, Muldoon was also active as a producer. Through his production company, he contributed to several films, including Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, Marlowe, The Card Counter, The Binge, and Reefa. He was also set to produce the upcoming film Cockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth. Just two days before his passing, he posted on social media expressing excitement about the project, a film directed by Matt Ross and featuring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Alec Baldwin, which is currently in production in Australia.

His final acting role was in Dirty Hands, a new crime thriller starring Denise Richards and Michael Beach, scheduled for release later this month.

He is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart; his parents, Diana and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister, Shana, and her husband Ahmed Zappa; as well as his niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa.
