Paris Jackson Denies Involvement in Michael Film: My Contribution Is “Zero Percent”

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Paris Jackson has stated that she has had no involvement in the production of the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael. Colman Domingo, who will portray Joe Jackson, the father of the “King of Pop,” told People on Wednesday that Paris and her brother Prince Jackson were “fully supportive” of the film. He added that he had spoken with Paris about Michael and had seen “nothing but kindness and love” from her.

Paris Jackson responded to the interview on Instagram, saying her level of participation in the project was “zero percent”: “Don’t tell people that I’ve been ‘helpful’ on the set of a film in which my contribution has been zero percent. That’s just bizarre. I read one of the earliest drafts of the script and gave my notes about the flaws or the parts that didn’t sit right with me, and when they were ignored, I moved on with my life. We have no stake in this. God bless and good luck.”
The singer later shared videos on the same platform, saying she had received “a lot of reactions” to her message, and added that the only response the filmmakers gave to her feedback was essentially: “No, we’re not going to listen.”
She continued: “So I stepped back and let it go because it’s not my project. They can make whatever they want. One of the main reasons I’ve stayed silent until now is because I knew many of you would enjoy the film. A big portion of it will satisfy a certain group of my dad’s fans who still live in a fantasy, and they’ll be happy to see it.”
Despite Paris Jackson’s withdrawal, representatives of Michael Jackson’s estate remain involved in the project. Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, will make his feature film debut portraying his uncle.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, Michael will cover the entirety of Jackson’s life, which ended in June 2009. From childhood stardom to global icon, Jackson endured a difficult upbringing and later faced allegations of sexual misconduct. He remains one of the best-selling artists of all time, with over 400 million records sold worldwide.
The cast also includes Miles Teller as Jackson’s defense attorney Howard Weitzman, Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, and Nia Long as Jackson’s mother Katherine Jackson.
Michael was originally slated for release in April 2025, but behind-the-scenes controversies and disputes between the filmmakers and Jackson’s estate over how to portray scenes related to sexual abuse allegations led to rewrites and the project being split into two films.
