Paramount Animation to Adapt Hit Reality Show ‘Survivor’ into Animated Animal Comedy
According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the widely popular reality television competition Survivor is officially heading to the big screen as an animated comedy feature film. Jeff Probst, the longtime host of the reality show, excitedly announced that the animated movie is currently in development with Paramount Animation, taking the intense competition for survival into the animal kingdom.
Probst shared his excitement regarding the project, writing:
“I am incredibly thrilled to partner with Paramount Animation to bring you a completely fresh take on this franchise. This movie will be a full-on comedy where animals from all over the world compete against one another for the ultimate title of Sole Survivor.”
In a video message, he added that the upcoming animated film will capture all the defining elements of the original series—ranging from massive, humorous personalities and surprise alliances to cutthroat competition, chaos, and deep emotional stakes—except this time, the contestants are not human. The official logline reveals that on a remote and mysterious island, animals from across the globe gather to compete for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be crowned the ultimate survivor.
Jeff Probst serves as an executive producer on the project, with Banijay, Amazon MGM, and CBS collaborating as copyright owners of the property. The television series, which has been on the air since 2000, recently concluded its historic 50th season finale, breaking records as the franchise’s most-watched episode in six years, drawing in over 5.7 million viewers. New seasons of the reality show are currently filming in Fiji, scheduled to premiere later this autumn.
