Nicole Kidman Confirms Completion of Practical Magic 2 Filming

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, filming for Practical Magic 2 has wrapped, confirmed by Nicole Kidman. She shared a video of herself with Sandra Bullock on Instagram, writing: “That’s a wrap on Practical Magic 2. Grateful for the magic of our cast and crew.”
Bullock and Kidman starred in the original film as the Owens sisters, one of whom, after killing the other’s ex-boyfriend, must bring the body back to life. The first film, directed by Griffin Dunne and based on Alice Hoffman’s novel of the same name, featured music by Alan Silvestri. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing reprise their roles as Jet and Frances. Other cast members include Lee Pace, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Sally MacLeod.
Details about the sequel’s plot have not been revealed, but Akiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett wrote the screenplay, with Bullock and Kidman producing. Oscar nominee Susanne Bier, who previously worked with Bullock on Bird Box, directs the sequel.
Evan Rachel Wood, who played Kylie, Bullock’s daughter in the first film, will not return. In July, Wood shared on Instagram: “I was not asked to return for the sequel to Practical Magic. I even offered to appear in just one scene or a single line. They said another actress would be recast. I’m sorry to disappoint the fans. It wasn’t my decision. I would have happily joined my sisters.”
Practical Magic 2 will be released on September 18, 2026.
