Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning Reunite for Legal Drama Discretion

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning will team up once again in the legal series Discretion, written by Chandler Baker.

The duo previously collaborated on Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled and the sci-fi comedy How to Talk to Girls at Parties, and will soon appear together in Apple TV+’s Margo’s Got Money Problems, penned by David E. Kelley.

A24 has acquired the rights to adapt Discretion, an unpublished short story by Baker. The author drew inspiration from her personal experiences as a lawyer in Dallas, having also worked at a Washington, D.C. law firm and as a fitness instructor.

Baker is also adapting her novel The Husbands for Amazon MGM and Plan B, with Kristen Wiig set to star and produce. Meanwhile, Michael Showalter is developing a film based on her short story Oh. What. Fun, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Longoria, Felicity Jones, and Chloë Grace Moretz. She is additionally writing a TV adaptation of her novel Cutting Teeth for a streaming platform, while HBO has acquired rights to adapt her book Whisper Network.

A24, known for producing HBO’s Euphoria, Netflix’s Beef, and Prime Video’s Overcompensating, is behind Margo’s Got Money Problems for Apple and recently secured film and TV remake rights to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The studio is also working with Noah Baumbach on a feature adaptation of Andrew Ridker’s novel Hope.
