Newborn Baby Found Dead in Portable Restroom at Electric Forest Music Festival
According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the Michigan State Police announced that the body of a newborn baby was discovered inside a portable restroom at the Electric Forest music festival on Sunday morning.
The deceased infant was located within the restroom facilities of the camping grounds at the four-day event in Rothbury, Michigan. An employee of the sanitation and maintenance company discovered the scene while performing routine cleaning and servicing and immediately reported the matter to authorities.
While the exact age of the infant has not yet been determined, West Michigan state police confirmed in a statement that the deceased was a “neonate” (a newborn four weeks old or younger).
Law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the incident and have stated that there is “no threat to the general public.” No further details have been released, and officials are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and contact the state police.
The organizers of Electric Forest shared a statement on their official social media channels, writing: “Forest Family, it breaks our hearts to share this tragic news with you. The Michigan State Police are currently investigating this tragic incident. The festival staff is deeply saddened by this event, and we know that you, as members of this incredible community, share this pain.”
The Electric Forest festival annually draws nearly 50,000 attendees to the rural Michigan site, located about 60 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. Hosted at the Double JJ Resort, the event features dozens of DJs and live electronic and jam bands. The annual festival launched in 2011, pausing only for a two-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
