New posters for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein unveiled

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, new posters for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein have been revealed, featuring the tagline “Only Monsters Play God.” The handwritten typography and the cold, inhuman imagery hint at the tone of del Toro’s adaptation of the classic Mary Shelley tale. The film will premiere next week at the Venice Film Festival before screening at Toronto and Telluride.
The 150-minute feature stars Oscar Isaac as Dr. Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature, with Christoph Waltz, Mia Goth, and Charles Dance also in the cast.
Del Toro not only directs but also adapted the screenplay from Mary Shelley’s novel. Alexandre Desplat, an Oscar-winning composer who previously collaborated with del Toro on The Shape of Water, provides the score.
At Cannes, del Toro described the film as more emotional than frightening: “A few days ago someone asked me, does it have very scary moments? For the first time I thought about it. To me, it’s an emotional story. Like everything I do, it’s personal. I ask a question about being a father and being a son… I’m not trying to make a horror movie—never. I’m not trying to make that kind of film.”
Frankenstein opens in theaters on October 17 and streams on Netflix starting November 7.
