Netflix to release Wake Up Dead Man in theaters

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Netflix will release the third installment of Knives Out, titled Wake Up Dead Man, written and directed by Rian Johnson, in theaters starting November 26. It had previously been announced that the mystery sequel would open the London Film Festival and premiere on Netflix on December 12.

The scale of the theatrical release remains unclear, but the first two installments were released in the fall season. Recently, Netflix grossed around $19 million with the theatrical run of KPop Demon Hunters, setting a new record. Narnia, directed by Greta Gerwig, is another Netflix production slated for theatrical release.

The second Knives Out film, Glass Onion, opened in 696 theaters in 2022 and grossed $15 million in its first week. The first film, released by Lionsgate in 2019, earned $312 million worldwide. During the pandemic, Netflix acquired the rights to the sequels in a $400 million deal.

Plot details of Knives Out 3 remain under wraps, but alongside Daniel Craig reprising his role as detective Benoit Blanc, the cast includes Mila Kunis, Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
