MGM+ Renews “Robin Hood” for Season 2

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the MGM+ streaming platform has officially greenlit a second season of the series Robin Hood, starring Sean Bean and Connie Nielsen. Lionsgate reports that the show has become one of the most-watched debut seasons in the history of MGM+.

The series, set following the Norman invasion of England, follows Robin Hood (played by Jack Patten), the son of a Saxon forester, and Marian (Lauren McQueen), the daughter of a Norman lord, as they fall in love and fight for justice and freedom. Robin becomes the leader of a band of outlaws, using Marian’s influence at court to root out royal corruption and restore peace to England. The Sheriff of Nottingham is portrayed as a brilliant war strategist, a devoted father, and a cousin to King Henry II. He faces challenges not only from the outlaws in the forest but also from the ambitions of Eleanor of Aquitaine (Connie Nielsen) and the nearby Norman barons.

Sean Bean, known for The Lord of the Rings and HBO’s Game of Thrones, portrays the Sheriff of Nottingham. The ensemble cast includes Lydia Peckham (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), Steven Waddington (The Trap), Marcus Fraser (Foundation), Angus Castle-Doughty (Shadow and Bone), and Henry Rowley.

In the upcoming second season, as the Angevin Empire begins to fracture, Robin and Marian find themselves drawn into the inner circles of kings and queens, tasked with protecting the future of the Saxons.

Jonathan English serves as producer and director of the first episode, acting as co-showrunner and writer alongside John Glenn (SEAL Team).
