Josh Griffith, Emmy-Winning Writer, Departs CBS’s “The Young and the Restless”
According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Josh Griffith, the Emmy-winning head writer, is leaving CBS’s beloved daytime drama The Young and the Restless.
The cast and crew of the long-running soap opera were notified yesterday of Griffith’s decision to step down from his position. According to reports, he will remain in his role for the time being, but he is expected to officially bid farewell to the project in the near future. This comes while production of the series is currently on hiatus until Monday, July 6. No successor has been announced yet.
A Distinguished Career in the World of Soap Operas
Josh Griffith is considered a veteran figure in the world of daytime soap operas. He began writing in this field in the late 1980s, with a portfolio that includes writing credits for prominent shows such as As the World Turns, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, One Life to Live, Santa Barbara, and Sunset Beach.
He joined The Young and the Restless in 2006 as a breakdown writer. Throughout his two decades of involvement, he held numerous roles, including creative consultant, co-executive producer, supervising producer, and ultimately, head writer and executive producer of the series.
Griffith has won four Daytime Emmy Awards for his writing and story development on The Young and the Restless. He also holds three additional Emmy Awards for his work on Santa Barbara and One Life to Live.
