Jennifer Lopez: I Trained for Weeks for Evita but the Role Went to Madonna

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Jennifer Lopez revealed that she auditioned for the film Evita without knowing that Madonna had already secured the role. In a new interview with Variety, she said: “I had been training for weeks and sang with all my heart.”
Lopez explained that she performed for director Alan Parker: “When I arrived, [Parker] said, ‘You’re incredible. You know Madonna got this role, right?’” She recalled responding to the director: “Okay, goodbye. Nice to meet you.”
Madonna, 67, starred as Argentina’s First Lady Eva Perón in the 1996 film adaptation of the musical Evita and won a Golden Globe for her performance. Although Lopez did not land that role, she has recently ventured into another musical film, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Lopez said: “There couldn’t have been a better movie for me. I was so happy we were making this film.” She had previously described the project as “a dream come true.”
