Jennifer Lawrence to Direct Her First Feature Film

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Jennifer Lawrence confirmed in a new interview with The New Yorker that she is preparing to direct her first feature film. The Oscar-winning actress, who recently worked with Lynne Ramsay and Robert Pattinson on Die My Love, revealed that she co-wrote the screenplay for a comedy with another writer and plans to direct it herself.
No plot details have been released, but Lawrence appears committed to prioritizing this project. She said:
“I want to make something that feels completely my own. The scale doesn’t matter anymore—what matters is the feeling the work evokes.”
Kim Caramel, known for Inside Amy Schumer and Trainwreck, is co-writing the comedy with the Silver Linings Playbook star. They are currently drafting the second version of the screenplay.
The New Yorker noted that Lawrence had previously considered directing Project Delirium, based on an article titled Operation Delirium from the same magazine. Nearly two years ago, she admitted in a TV interview that directing “seems hard”:
“You know, I used to think [I wanted to direct], but now I’m very tired. And it feels very difficult.”
In recent years, actors such as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum, Kristen Stewart, Scarlett Johansson, Viggo Mortensen, Anna Kendrick, and many others have directed projects of their own.
Lawrence also revealed in the interview that she plans to undergo breast surgery:
“After my first childbirth, almost everything returned. With the second, nothing came back.”
