Jennifer Aniston Offers Stephen Colbert a “Weatherman” Role on The Morning Show

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, after the cancellation of The Late Show, Jennifer Aniston suggested that Stephen Colbert join The Morning Show.

The Friends star appeared on Colbert’s show Thursday night and brought along a mock script for a possible fifth season of the Apple TV+ drama. Aniston said she considers Colbert a “brilliant actor” and jokingly added that she is in the early stages of “casting for this fifth season” of The Morning Show.

She said: “I thought, ‘Why not?’ You’ll have some free time next year. You’re available in June, right? So I thought maybe you could audition for season five of The Morning Show! Wouldn’t that be great?”

Colbert accepted the offer, saying he was willing to travel to Los Angeles. But Aniston decided to hold the audition right there on Colbert’s show, saying: “I thought, we’ve got cameras here, they’re filming, right? So we can capture your audition on tape.”

Aniston then gave Colbert the role of a “more handsome Steve Carell,” portraying a weatherman on The Morning Show. In the mock script, she poked fun at the unexpected cancellation of Colbert’s program: “I see you have two decades of nightly weather reporting experience.” Colbert replied: “Yes, I had the highest-rated nighttime weather program—until the network canceled it.”

CBS announced in July that Colbert’s show would be canceled next spring due to financial reasons. Just days before that decision, Colbert had accused Paramount of paying a “bribe” to Donald Trump. The U.S. president had accused CBS of editing an interview with Kamala Harris, but later settled with the network for $16 million, as CBS’s parent company, Paramount, needed Trump’s approval for its merger with Skydance.
