Hulu Gives Greenlight to Prison Break Reboot

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Hulu and 20th Television have officially greenlit a new Prison Break series written by Elgin James. Earlier reports revealed that the show will take place in the same universe as the original but will feature an all-new cast of characters, moving away from Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (played by Dominic Purcell).
The main cast includes Emily Browning (American Gods), Lukas Gage (Euphoria), and Derrick Roger (Landman). Elgin James, best known for Mayans M.C., will also serve as an executive producer.
Emily Browning will portray Cassidy Collins, a former soldier who now works as a guard at one of America’s most dangerous prisons. Lukas Gage plays Jackson, a wealthy and ambitious politician running for Congress for the first time. Derrick Roger appears as Tommy, an inmate who has already spent ten years in one of the deadliest prisons in the country. The cast also includes Clayton Cardenas as Michael (or “Ghost”), J.R. Bourne as Junior, George Flores as Andrea, and Myles Bullock as Darius (“Red”).
The original Prison Break premiered on FOX in 2005, following a young man who devised intricate plans to help himself and his fellow inmates escape prison. The series ran for four seasons and concluded with a television film titled The Final Break, which aired twelve days after the season four finale in 2009. In 2015, FOX revived the show for a fifth season starring Miller and Purcell once again.
In August 2024, Prison Break became the most-watched series across U.S. streaming platforms, proving its enduring popularity nearly two decades after its debut.
