‘Harry Potter’ Actress Jessie Cave Says Joining OnlyFans to Pay Bills Was “Embarrassing” But “Has Saved Me”

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Jessie Cave, the actress who played Lavender Brown in three films of the “Harry Potter” franchise, spoke candidly during a recent interview on the UK television show “This Morning” about her decision to launch an OnlyFans page last year to get out of debt—a choice that ultimately resulted in her being banned from a Harry Potter fan convention.
Referring to her role as Lavender Brown, Cave said: “People just assume I’m rich and I have loads of money and no I don’t. It was a small-ish part and it was 20 years ago.”
She continued regarding her OnlyFans membership: “So it was embarrassing, because on a certain level, I would have really liked to get a regular job. But you know what it’s like when you have kids; childcare costs so much… OnlyFans really has saved me.”
Describing herself as a “struggling artist,” Cave added that she now mostly performs solo puppet shows. However, her OnlyFans page has provided the means to keep pursuing her artistic endeavors: “It’s a way that I make a living as an artist… I want to have less shame about it. I want other people who do niche, quirky art like me to know that there is still a way forward.”
In May 2025, Cave launched an OnlyFans account focused on her hair. At the time, she posted an Instagram video promising subscribers “the best quality hair sounds” and “very sensual content.” Cave does not share explicit or sexual content on OnlyFans, instead catering to a niche audience interested in hair.
Explaining her decision at the time, Cave outlined her motivations: “My goal? Securing a house, covering arsenic and lead wallpaper, building a new roof, and more. My goal? Getting out of debt. My goal? Empowering myself; proving to people from my past who misjudged me that I am not that naive; and spending time on something I had never invested in before: loving myself.”
Cave first appeared as Lavender Brown in 2009’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and reprised the role in both parts of “The Deathly Hallows.” While best known for the “Harry Potter” films, she has also appeared in “Great Expectations,” as well as TV series such as “Black Mirror” and “Industry.” She additionally voiced Lavender Brown in two Harry Potter video games.
When a Harry Potter fan convention banned her a few months later because the “OnlyFans platform is associated with adult content,” Cave noted that the decision was “baffling” to her: “Because some of the actors who attend these conventions—in fact, most actors—have appeared in shows and movies with nude scenes. Whereas I’m literally just playing with my hair!”
Cave added: “I’m not upset about potentially missing out on other Harry Potter conventions. There are new actors coming up now, and times have changed. Plus, I’ve been going to conventions for over 15 years, and I have enough photos and Wizarding World memorabilia.”
