Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack for the film Interstellar played at Cologne Cathedral

According to CinemaDrame news agency, A video of Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack for the film Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, went viral on social media. The video shows part of a performance by 29-year-old British organist Anna Lapwood at Cologne Cathedral.

Lapwood, who has previously collaborated in concerts with Aurora and Bonobo, wrote on Instagram on July 17 about her experience playing at Cologne Cathedral: “No words can describe last night. Honestly, I had never experienced anything like this before. Thirteen thousand people came to my concert at the cathedral. Thirteen thousand! It got so crowded that the police were called, and I’m glad everything was managed. We expected it to be busy, but I never imagined it would be this busy.”

She continued: “I wanted to welcome everyone, so 45 minutes before the concert started, I decided to hold two back-to-back concerts—for two groups of 4,000 people each—and I truly thought everyone had come, but apparently, 5,000 more people were still waiting outside and couldn’t get in.”

The viral clip features a few minutes of the track “Day One” from Interstellar. One Reddit user commented in response: “Listening to the Interstellar soundtrack is a transcendent experience!”

The film Interstellar, starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, was re-released last year to mark the tenth anniversary of its premiere.
