First Trailer Released for Dead Man’s Wire: Bill Skarsgård’s Dog Afternoon

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first teaser for Dead Man’s Wire, starring Bill Skarsgård, has been unveiled. Directed by Gus Van Sant, the film premiered at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival and has received positive reviews. Rotten Tomatoes currently gives the film a 100% rating.
The crime drama is based on the life of Tony Kiritsis, a real estate developer who lost his patience with injustice. He strapped a “dead man’s key” to himself to take a banker hostage, demanding five million dollars and a formal apology for financial and psychological damages. Other cast members include Al Pacino, Diker Montgomery, Maïhala, Kerry Elwes, and Clemens Domingo, with the screenplay by Austin Kolodny.
Dead Man’s Wire marks Van Sant’s first film in six years. Known for directing numerous films from the late 1980s through the early 2000s, he won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2003 for Elephant. After Milk (2008), his projects became more sporadic. His most recent film, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, starring Joaquin Phoenix, premiered in 2018. Last year, Van Sant also directed six episodes of the series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.
Rough Key Entertainment will release Dead Man’s Wire on January 9, 2026.
