First Look at Bradley Cooper and Laura Dern in Is This Thing On
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first images from Is This Thing On have been released. In addition to directing, Bradley Cooper also stars in the film alongside Will Arnett and Laura Dern.
Set to premiere as the closing night film at the New York Film Festival, Is This Thing On is inspired by the life of British comedian John Bishop. The story follows a couple, played by Arnett and Dern, who have two children but find themselves on the brink of separation. Arnett’s character, Alex, makes a late turn toward stand-up comedy in New York’s West Village. The cast also includes Andra Day, Christine Ebersole, Sean Hayes, Peyton Manning, Amy Sedaris, and Ciarán Hinds.
Arnett co-wrote the screenplay with Mark Chappell. Cooper also serves as a producer through his company, Archery Pictures.
Cooper, a nine-time Oscar nominee, has starred in acclaimed films such as American Sniper, American Hustle, A Star Is Born, Silver Linings Playbook, and Nightmare Alley. His most recent directing effort, Maestro, premiered two years ago on Netflix. He also recently made a cameo in James Gunn’s Superman.
Arnett, a seven-time Emmy nominee, is best known for Fox’s Arrested Development. He also voiced the lead in Netflix’s BoJack Horseman and co-hosts the podcast SmartLess with Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman.
Searchlight Pictures will release Is This Thing On on December 19.
