First Images of Al Pacino and Vince Vaughn in Nic Pizzolatto’s Easy’s Waltz

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first stills from Easy’s Waltz have been unveiled, featuring Al Pacino, Vince Vaughn, Michelle Monaghan, Kate Mara, and Simon Rex. Nic Pizzolatto, creator of True Detective, wrote the screenplay and is directing his first feature film.
Described as a mix between A Star Is Born and Swingers, the story follows a down-on-his-luck singing comedian in modern-day Las Vegas who catches the attention of a casino broker.
Vaughn and Monaghan previously worked together on the first season of Apple’s drama series Bad Monkey, written by Ted Lasso creator Bill Lawrence.
Pacino, now 85, was recently seen in Johnny Depp’s Modi. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he admitted that many of his recent roles have felt “similar,” but explained his motivation:
“Well, to survive. I look around and ask myself: ‘How much longer does this go on?’ I suppose that’s my motivation. I’m grateful I can still act… Acting excites me because you never know what’s coming. It’s really an adventure.”
Pizzolatto rose to fame with the first season of True Detective in 2014, working with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. That season earned six Emmy nominations, including Best Drama, and won Cary Fukunaga the Emmy for Best Directing. The show’s second and third seasons followed in 2016 and 2019, while the fourth, starring Jodie Foster, aired last year.
Easy’s Waltz will premiere on September 11 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
