Emmys 2025: The Pitt Team Dedicates Awards to Healthcare Workers

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, R. Scott Jemiel, creator of The Pitt, dedicated the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series on Sunday night to healthcare workers. Noah Wyle, the show’s star, also shared his Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Drama with doctors. Katherine LaNasa, another cast member, won an Emmy at the 77th ceremony as well.

Each episode of the series depicts one hour of a 15-hour shift for Dr. Robbie (played by Wyle), the head of the emergency department at the fictional Pittsburgh hospital. Season one featured performances from Noah Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Graham Howell, and Shabana Azmi.

After thanking Warner Bros. and the production team, Jemiel said: “I want to dedicate this award on behalf of all of us to healthcare workers, frontline staff, and first responders. Respect them, protect them, trust them, thank you!”

The Pitt, which bears strong similarities to the long-running medical drama ER, is currently facing legal action. ER creator Michael Crichton has filed a lawsuit claiming The Pitt is a spinoff of the hit NBC series. Wyle’s years as a mainstay on ER have lent weight to Crichton’s claim.

In his acceptance speech, Wyle thanked his wife, Sara Wells: “Not because of California law, but because she deserves it.” He then expressed gratitude to hospital staff: “To everyone on shift tonight or just coming off one—thank you for doing this job. This award belongs to you.”

According to Warner Bros. Discovery, The Pitt averages more than 10 million viewers per episode on Max. The show’s second season will premiere in January 2026.
