DC Cancels Transgender Writer’s Comic After Her Posts Celebrating Charlie Kirk’s Death

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, DC Comics has canceled the Red Hood comic series one day after its writer posted mocking comments about the death of Charlie Kirk. The 31-year-old conservative activist was shot last Wednesday while giving a speech at the University of Utah, targeted from 180 meters away.

Gretchen Felker-Martin, a transgender woman, reacted to Kirk’s assassination on Bluesky by writing: “Praying for you, Nazi slut.” In another post, she added: “Hope the bullet that hit Charlie is doing well.”

Her account was suspended following the posts. Bluesky later issued a warning, stating it would review reports of users celebrating the death of Kirk or anyone else: “We are committed to providing a space for open and healthy debate.”

DC Comics had announced in June that the first issue of the adult Red Hood series would be published on September 10. Two additional volumes were scheduled for release in the coming months, but DC has now halted publication.

In a statement to Popverse, the publisher explained: “At DC Comics, we place the highest value on creators and our reader community, and we respect their right to express personal opinions in peaceful ways. Public messages or commentary that could promote violence or hostility are not consistent with DC’s standards.”

Kirk had long opposed transgender rights, writing on X two years ago: “Transgenderism is a mental delusion.”

One other consequence of Kirk’s assassination has been the removal of a South Park episode from Comedy Central. Meanwhile, MSNBC fired political analyst Matthew Dowd after he stated that Kirk’s “hateful rhetoric” contributed to his own death.
