According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the animated film Zootopia 2, written and directed by Jared Bush, has received a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 73% score on Metacritic following the release of its first reviews. The film is a sequel to the Oscar-winning Zootopia (2016).
In this installment, police officer Judy Hopps, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, teams up once again with her fox friend Nick, voiced by Jason Bateman, to take on a new case. The film also introduces new characters, including a cunning snake villain voiced by Ke Huy Quan, the actor from Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Idris Elba returns as Police Chief Bogo; Bonnie Hunt as Bonnie Hopps, Judy’s mother; Shakira as Gazelle; Don Lake as Stu Hopps, Judy’s father; J. K. Simmons as Mayor Leodore Lionheart; Jenny Slate as Dawn Bellwether, the mayor’s assistant; Nate Torrence as Benjamin Clawhauser; Maurice LaMarche as the mafia boss; Octavia Spencer as Otterton; and Jesse Corti as Manchas.
RogerEbert.com writes: “Every part of the film is as thrilling, heartwarming, and inventive as the Oscar-winning original — and even funnier.”
The Hollywood Reporter writes that the sequel’s “dazzling visuals, intricate humor, and distinctly sincere emotions” prove it was worth the decade-long wait.
IGN writes: “The trappings of this sequel are built on the vibrant world of the first film, and while its thematic ambitions reach further than they need to, like the film’s rabbit hero, it carries an infectious sense of hope that change is always possible.”
The Independent writes: “It reconstructs the first film’s allegory of racism in a thought-provoking way — and the new character, Gree Dee the Snake, steals every scene he’s in.”
The first Zootopia grossed $341 million domestically in 2016 and ultimately surpassed $1 billion worldwide. Zootopia 2 is projected to earn $500 million in its opening week.
Zootopia 2 will be released on November 26, 2025.
