“Crime 101” Announces Release Date on Prime Video

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the noir film Crime 101, directed and written by Bart Litton from Amazon MGM Studios, will be released on Prime Video this week, Wednesday, April 1.

The film will move to the streaming service 47 days after its theatrical release—a longer period compared to the holiday film Red One, starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, which went to the streaming platform 30 days after its theatrical debut.

Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Cory Hawkins, Nick Nolte, and Jennifer Jason Leigh, premiered on February 13 and earned $14.2 million in its first three days. The film received an 89% Certified Fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics and a B grade from CinemaScore. Its production budget was $90 million, with a final box office of $36.4 million in the U.S. and $71.7 million worldwide.

The film is based on a short story by Don Winslow and follows a mysterious jewel thief (Hemsworth) whose series of heists along Highway 101 confounds the police. As he pursues a major robbery, his path intersects with a desperate insurance broker (Berry) at a crossroads in her life. A relentless detective (Ruffalo), who believes he has identified a pattern, is closing in, raising the tension. As the time of the heist approaches, the line between hunter and hunted blurs, and all three characters face fateful choices, realizing there is no turning back.

Recently, Amazon MGM Studios has witnessed its best-performing film since acquiring MGM: the sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, which has grossed over $300 million worldwide.
