Behind the Scenes of David Harbour’s Personal Life After a Tumultuous Divorce; Red Carpet Details from ‘Toy Story 5’

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the latest episode of Daily Variety’s exclusive podcast delved into the newest headlines, events, and controversial figures in the entertainment industry, chronicling how Hollywood stars navigate pivotal transitions in both their professional and personal lives.
In the podcast’s special report segment, Variety journalist Daniel D’Addario sat down with David Harbour. Following his definitive and memorable portrayal of Chief Jim Hopper across five seasons of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, Harbour is currently navigating one of the most challenging phases of his career. Meanwhile, Marc Malkin delivered an exclusive report from the red carpet premiere of Disney’s highly anticipated Toy Story 5, interviewing prominent figures including Taylor Swift and Joan Cusack.
David Harbour Breaks Silence on His Ex-Wife’s Controversial Songs
David Harbour topped media headlines last year following the release of a new album by his ex-wife, the prominent singer and actress Lily Allen. In her album titled West End Girl, which debuted last autumn, Allen included sharp and satirical lyrics about their marriage, which had come to an end in early 2025. Having maintained strict silence throughout the height of the controversy, Harbour finally shared his perspective in this new interview.
Reflecting on the discussion, D’Addario noted that Harbour appeared remarkably grounded and knew exactly what boundaries to maintain regarding what he would and wouldn’t say about Allen:
“His calm and grace while looking back on this experience truly surprised me. He is a very deep individual and has spent a great deal of time over the past year away from the media spotlight, focusing on his emotional recovery. He strictly refused to speak negatively or harbor bitterness toward his ex-wife, Lily Allen. Harbour didn’t become a massive star until later in his career; as a New York theater actor, he always expected a private life free from tabloid attention. Now that the media has taken an interest in him, he relies on years of practice in knowing how to keep his personal matters private.”
Shining on the ‘Toy Story 5’ Red Carpet
Another highlight of the podcast was the red carpet coverage for the highly anticipated animated feature Toy Story 5. Veteran voice actress Joan Cusack opened up to Variety about her absence from Hollywood in recent years, confirming that she has spent her time running a gift shop in Chicago.
Cusack shared:
“I am incredibly proud of my years working in this industry, but at the same time, just living life, raising my kids in Chicago, and being a normal person feels absolutely wonderful.”
