Ariana Grande and White House Embroiled in War of Words; Pop Star Slams Use of Her Song in Migrant Deportation Videos
According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, prominent American singer Ariana Grande has sharply criticized the White House for the unauthorized use of her 2024 track “Bye” in a promotional TikTok video. The video in question depicted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detaining and arresting migrants.
Grande directly warned the Trump administration in the comments section of the official White House post to cease using her work, writing:
“Please never under any circumstances use my music for this brutal, inhumane, and heinous bullst.”
Following her protest, although the pop star’s comment was subsequently hidden from public view for unspecified reasons, her management team took immediate action and swiftly muted the audio track on the video entirely.
The White House’s Sharp Rebuttal: Mocking the Singer with Her Own Track Titles
The protest triggered a fierce backlash from White House press officials. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson issued a stern statement to the media, declaring:
“We will say this one last time; what is actually brutal, inhumane, and heinous are the actions of illegal and criminal aliens who injure or murder innocent American citizens.”
Meanwhile, Deputy White House Press Secretary Koush Desai went a step further, mockingly responding to Grande by weaving titles of her famous tracks into his statement:
“Wipe away your tears, Ariana (referencing Save Your Tears), because President Trump’s actions have ended the Biden-era inflation crisis and attracted trillions of dollars in new investments. He even, just like magic (referencing Just Like Magic), signed an executive order that paved the way to crack down on Ticketmaster for violating the rights of your own concert fans. Get well soon, Ariana! (referencing Get Well Soon).”
The History of Ariana Grande’s Political Activism
This is not the first time the Grammy Award-winning singer has challenged the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Last year, she reshared critical posts on her Instagram account, labeling the administration’s hardline approaches toward immigrant communities and minorities a threat to democracy.
Grande, who officially endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election, is currently in the midst of her “Eternal Sunshine” world concert tour and is scheduled to perform Saturday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
