“Apocalypse Shitcago”: Trump declares war on Chicago with bizarre Apocalypse Now-themed image

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, on Saturday night Donald Trump posted an image on Truth Social depicting himself inside the world of Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now.
The AI-generated image was shared just one day after Trump renamed the “Department of Defense” to the “Department of War,” sparking widespread criticism. Trump wrote: “Chicago will soon find out why we called it the Department of War.”
The message echoed the iconic opening scene of Coppola’s war film, featuring Robert Duvall as Colonel Bill Kilgore with helicopters flying behind him. Trump’s doctored image carried the caption: “Apocalypse Shitcago.”
He also referenced Duvall’s famous line from the film—“I love the smell of napalm in the morning”—by writing: “I love the smell of deportations [of illegal immigrants] in the morning.”
With this message, the U.S. President once again threatened to deploy the National Guard to Illinois’ largest city, which he has called “the most dangerous city in the world.” Just last Tuesday, he declared: “We will go in. I haven’t said when.”
Meanwhile, Chicago’s city government reported that crime in the city has fallen by 22% over the past twelve months, with murders down 32% and thefts down 49% compared to last year.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker responded to Trump’s new post on Saturday night, stating: “The President of the United States is threatening to wage war against an American city. This is no joke. This is not normal. Donald Trump is not a strong man, he is scared. Illinois will not be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.”
