Anime Series Terminator Zero Canceled by Netflix After One Season

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Netflix has canceled the anime series Terminator Zero after one season. The first season, consisting of eight episodes and featuring the voice of Timothy Olyphant, premiered in August last year.

Set in the near future, the anime follows the war between the few remaining humans and an army of machines. The artificial intelligence known as Skynet has achieved self-awareness and launched a war against humanity. A soldier is sent back to the year 1997 in an attempt to change mankind’s fate. In that year, she must protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee, who is developing a new AI designed to complement Skynet.

Series writer, executive producer, and showrunner Mattson Tomlin wrote on the social platform X: “The response from critics and audiences was very strong, but ultimately it didn’t draw enough viewers. I would have loved to explore the Future War in seasons two and three, but at the same time, I’m very satisfied with where it stands now.”

David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance Media also served as producers. The series was directed by Masashi Kudo. Additional voice cast members included André Holland, Rosario Dawson, Ann Dowd, and Sonoya Mizuno.
