Amazon to Produce Season Two of Overcompensating

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Amazon Prime Video has confirmed the production of the second season of Overcompensating, written, produced, and starring Benito Skinner. Charli XCX makes her acting debut in this series.

Written by his friend Benito Skinner, the show tells the story of a former football player who tries to keep his sexual identity hidden in college. Other cast members include Vali Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah. Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, Tommy Do, Alexander Beatton, Elias Azimi, Maddie Phillips, and Andiya Martin appeared in smaller roles.

Scott King serves as showrunner and, alongside Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, and Charli XCX, is also an executive producer. Amazon Studios is producing the series in collaboration with A24.

The first season of Overcompensating received a 72% score based on 21 reviews, most of them positive. Collider writes: “It never lets its quirky humor drift away from the drama at its core, and with several strong comedic performances, Benito Skinner’s first full-length work becomes a must-watch series of the summer.”
