The Cinematic Return of French Talent Agents: Will the New Call My Agent! Movie Satisfy Fans?
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the hit French comedy-drama Call My Agent!—a blend of comedy, drama, and entertainment industry satire—is returning six years after its fourth season finale with a feature-length Netflix movie. Fits of comedy and painful setbacks take center stage in a story that revolves around the chaotic process of making a feature film.
The scripted series achieved such massive success and popularity in France that Netflix acquired the rights in 2015, ultimately streaming all four seasons. The narrative centers on a group of talent agents at the fictional ASK agency wrestling with the constant demands and challenges of their celebrity clients. Its standout feature is that these clients are real-life A-list stars playing dramatized versions of themselves. Although the series ended in 2020 with the closure of the fictional agency, rumors of a feature film persisted. Now, six years later, that project arrives as a gift for both long-time fans and new audiences.
According to Netflix, the film picks up five years after the agency’s shutdown. Andrea is finally preparing to direct her first feature film. However, when her lead actor walks off the project and she clashes with her producer, she joins forces with Noémie—now a successful reality TV producer—hoping to easily keep her under control. Chaos ensues as Andrea faces recasting hurdles, endless onset disasters, and a heated custody battle over her daughter. Meanwhile, her former ASK colleagues arrive at the high-tension location one by one; each steps in with a new role, distinct pride, and a heavy trail of past grudges and rivalries, oblivious to the unexpected events this reunion will unleash.
The feature is directed by Émilie Noblet and scripted by Lizon Daniel alongside Fanny Herrero, the original series creator. The cast features Camille Cottin, Laure Calamy, Thibault de Montalembert, Grégory Montel, Nicolas Maury, Fanny Sidney, Liliane Rovère, Laetitia Casta, Vincent Macaigne, Ophélia Kolb, Anne Marivin, and Laurent Lafitte. Longstanding rumors also suggest a potential cameo appearance by George Clooney.
Previous reports suggested that a fifth season of the series might follow the release of this movie. All episodes of the series are currently streaming on Netflix, and the feature-length film Call My Agent! will premiere exclusively on the platform on Thursday, September 10.
