Complete List of 2026 Emmy Award Nominations: “The Pitt” Leads, “Hacks” Breaks Records

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, television’s biggest morning arrived as the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences officially announced the nominees for the 78th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

Leading the total nomination count, the drama series The Pitt—last year’s winner for Best Drama Series—dominated this year’s field with 25 nominations. It was followed closely by the final season of the comedy series Hacks with 24 nominations, setting a record for the highest number of nominations for a comedy series in a single season.

Apple TV+’s new series Widow’s Bay secured third place with 19 nominations, while the same network’s Pluribus earned 18 nominations, and Netflix’s Beef followed with 16 nominations.

The excitement began early in the morning on NBC’s Today show with the announcement of nominees in two new categories: “Best Variety Series” and “Best Reality Competition Program,” where ABC’s Dancing with the Stars scored its first nomination in 10 years.

Notably, several popular shows, including the controversial drama Heated Rivalry, were ineligible for this year’s Emmy competition due to various reasons.

The winners of the 78th Emmy Awards will be revealed on Monday, September 14, 2026, during a grand ceremony. Due to NBC’s broadcast of National Football League (NFL) games, the ceremony will take place on Monday instead of its traditional Sunday slot. Beloved TV star Mariska Hargitay, who begins her 28th season on Law & Order: SVU this fall, will host the event at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
