Karl Urban: No One Is Safe in Season 5 of The Boys

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, The Boys is a series that never shies away from violence. However, one criticism often leveled at shows of this kind is that — unlike many of their supporting characters — the main characters seem to enjoy exaggerated plot armor. But as the fifth and final season approaches, one of the show’s stars is promising multiple deaths.

Karl Urban said in a new interview with Variety that the upcoming season of Amazon’s hit series will begin with significant casualties: “It’s like that every season, but especially this one. From the very first episode, you’re like, ‘Whoa.’ No one is safe. Death arrives right from the start.”

Fans have speculated that characters such as Hughie Campbell and Starlight may survive through the end of Season 5, both due to their adherence to the comic source material and their central roles in the show’s narrative. On the other hand, many believe Billy Butcher — played by Urban — could meet his end shortly after the death of Homelander, particularly given his worsening physical condition.

Urban previously told Screen Rant that viewers will witness major deaths and pivotal story turns in the very first episode of Season 5: “I think we’re going to make you angry… The stakes couldn’t be higher, and everyone is exposed to that threat.”

Season 4 introduced several new characters, including Firecracker, portrayed by Valorie Curry; Sister Sage, played by Susan Heyward; Tek Knight, played by Derek Wilson; Ladios, portrayed by Reid Miller; Webweaver, played by Dan Mousseau; Splinter, portrayed by Rob Benedict; and Joe Kessler, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Other cast members include Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, and Karen Fukuhara.

Season 5 of The Boys will premiere on April 8, 2026 on Amazon Prime Video.
