Leak of Oscar-contending films No Other Choice and It Was Just An Accident ahead of their U.S. release

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Neon Studios has no other choice but to rush the release of No Other Choice, the new film by Park Chan-wook. Social media has been flooded with clips from this Oscar contender after an unauthorized, reasonably high-quality copy leaked online. In addition, a screener copy of It Was Just An Accident, directed by Jafar Panahi and selected as France’s submission for the Oscars, has also become available. Both films are competing in the Best International Feature category.

Following the leak of No Other Choice, IMAX announced that it will release the film 17 days earlier than planned, with a limited rollout on 8 December. The film will open in 100 theatres in an attempt to recover some of the lost ground.
No Other Choice tells the story of Bruno, the head of a paper company who enjoys his job but considers being fired a blessing in disguise. Two years after searching for a similar position, his optimism fades into despair, and his wife, Marline, takes on a second job. Bruno decides to identify and kill his rival to become the sole eligible candidate for a new position. Lee Byung-hun (Squid Game) and Son Ye-jin (Crash Landing on You) are among the cast.
It Was Just An Accident was produced in collaboration with the French production company Les Films Pelleas, known for Anatomy of a Fall. The story revolves around a minor accident that triggers a chain of intense and escalating events. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received an eight-minute standing ovation.
