Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton Split After Two Years

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have ended their relationship after two years together. The 60-year-old Italian actress and the 66-year-old filmmaker—best known for Edward Scissorhands and Alice in Wonderland—confirmed their separation in a joint statement released Friday through Elle France.
The couple first briefly met on the red carpet at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, but reconnected over 15 years later at the Lumière Festival in France, where Burton received an honorary award. Four months later, they were seen together in Madrid, and Burton went on to cast Bellucci in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
In a past interview with Elle France, Bellucci expressed her admiration for Burton: “What can I say… first of all, I’m glad I met this man. It’s one of those rare encounters in life… I know this man, I love him, and then I meet the director, and another adventure begins. I love Tim. I have great respect for him. I love his dreamlike world, where monsters are kind—where you can transform the darker sides of ourselves into something light, forgiving. Tim Burton’s films speak a lot about that.”
Bellucci divorced Vincent Cassel in 2013, after a marriage that began in 1999, and had previously been married to Claudio Carlos Basso from 1990 to 1994. She also ended a relationship with French artist Nicolas Lefebure in 2019. Burton, meanwhile, was married to Lena Gieseke in 1987 before divorcing four years later. He then had a long-term relationship with Helena Bonham Carter from 2001 to 2014, with whom he shares two children.
