First trailer for Colin Farrell’s Ballad of a Small Player

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for The Ballad of a Small Player, directed by Edward Berger and starring Colin Farrell. The film will premiere on Netflix in October, following its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. The trailer features a haunting rendition of Andrea True’s song More, More, More.

The story follows a gambler who decides to go into hiding in Macau after racking up heavy debts. Along the way, he encounters someone who may hold the key to his redemption. The cast also includes Chinese-born actress Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Deanie Ip (A Simple Life), BAFTA nominee Alex Jennings, and Oscar winner Tilda Swinton.

Berger once again collaborates with his All Quiet on the Western Front team, including cinematographer James Friend, composer Volker Bertelmann, makeup designer Heike Merker, and costume designer Lisy Christl. Nick Emerson, Oscar-nominated for Conclave, has also joined the project as editor.

The Ballad of a Small Player will have a limited U.S. theatrical release on October 15 before streaming worldwide on Netflix on October 29.
