Amazon to produce Jason Momoa’s The Pirate
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Jason Momoa and David Leitch are teaming up for a film titled The Pirate, written by Will Dunn. Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the distribution rights, with Leitch and his wife Kelly McCormick producing. Momoa is in talks to star, while Leitch is negotiating to direct.
Plot details for The Pirate have not been revealed, but Jeff Sneider has reported that the film will be similar to The Raid, set aboard a pirate ship.
Momoa was recently seen in Warner Bros.’ Minecraft and Apple TV+’s Chief of War, and he is set to reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three. Another of his upcoming projects is Legendary’s Street Fighter, which will begin filming soon.
Leitch recently produced Nobody 2 starring Bob Odenkirk, currently in theaters, and is filming another action movie titled How to Rob a Bank for Amazon MGM. Dunn, meanwhile, has The Peasant starring Dev Patel in pre-production.
